A garden tidy, a bathroom refit or a bigger clear-out: start with what you need to get rid of. The waste type and available space help decide which skip will suit.
The right waste, loaded safely. Tell us about anything unusual before it goes in.
Describe the full load before booking so the waste can be agreed.
These may need a separate load, specialist handling or a different service.
Do not put these in a general mixed-waste skip. Arrange the right disposal route first.

A skip gives you one place for the waste while you clear a room or work in the garden. Plan the route to it before the first load comes out.
If waste comes from a rear garden or a flat, look at gates, steps and shared doors. Keep neighbours’ access open while you fill the skip.
A container should not trap the car or block your bins and front door. Measure the usable space and describe anything that narrows the entrance.
The lorry needs room to approach and lift. Tell us about turns, parked cars and overhead obstacles before choosing a delivery position.

An empty space at the kerb is not enough on its own. North Lanarkshire Council permission must be in place before a skip goes on the public road.
The council currently lists 28 days’ notice for a skip permit. Settle the proposed position and who will apply before arranging building work around a delivery date.
Mention marked bays, yellow lines and restrictions at your address. Give the council the exact proposed position so the permission and any parking arrangements can be confirmed before delivery.
Confirm how long the road permission covers and the collection arrangement. Do not assume extra hire time or another collection is included if the job changes.
A few things agreed upfront make delivery and collection easier.
Have the postcode, waste type and preferred date ready.
Agree a suitable size, the full price and what the quote includes.
Agree where it will go, access and any permit needed.
Keep the approach clear and tell us about gates or overhead cables.
Keep the waste within the rim and stick to the agreed load.
Follow the collection arrangement agreed when you booked.
If collection was not booked for a fixed date, call when you are ready for the skip to go.
Call before changing the arrangements. Agree collection notice and any extra charges when booking.
Read the collection guidanceThe best choice depends on the job, the space and who will load the waste.
Useful when waste builds up over several days.
Useful when an agreed load is ready to go.
Agree the full price before booking, including any extras that apply to your job.
Size is only part of the picture. Heavy waste and items needing separate handling can affect the quote.
Your postcode, access and any road permit help determine what is needed for delivery.
Agree the hire period, collection, VAT and any charges for extra time or a changed load.
Start with the amount and type of waste. Compare the skip sizes and guide dimensions, then describe the job when you call. Soil and rubble need particular care because they become heavy quickly.
A driveway can be suitable if you have permission to use it, a suitable surface and safe lorry access. Tell us about the entrance width, gates, parked cars, slopes and overhead cables before booking.
A skip on a public road needs North Lanarkshire Council permission before it is placed. A skip on private land normally avoids that road-permit process. Read the local skip permit guide and agree who will arrange permission.
Agree the hire period and any extra-day charges when you book. If you need more time, call before the agreed collection date rather than assuming the hire will continue.
Agree this when booking. If you have not arranged a fixed collection date, call when you are ready. Keep access clear and allow for the collection notice agreed with the operator.
Have your postcode, waste type and preferred date ready.
